Of course, a real estate agent should be considered for selling a property. Brokers and agents are licensed by the state before they are permitted to list and sell other people's properties. They are only licensed after taking accredited courses and proving they know the laws and rules regulating property sales. Also, to remain certified and receive their license renewals periodically, they are required to take many hours of continuing education.
| Agency: Did you know that there is Buyer Agency as well as Seller Agency? There is even Dual Agency! A seller's agent represents the owner/seller of a property while a buyer's agent represents the purchaser. In other words, the seller's agent "works for" the seller, the buyer's agent "works for" the buyer, and in dual agency, the agent "works for" both. These are not "legal" definitions. However, Pennsylvania Law requires agents and brokers to provide a "consumer notice" at the first substantive discussion about real estate. Be sure you get the notice, read it, understand it, then sign it and keep a copy. |
