Arden Services' Web-site design and hosting was an outgrowth and "modernization" of copywriting and editing for print, and coordinating publication of printed materials, which began in 1982.

AreaRE.com has displayed over 1,287 properties for sale in Cameron, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Forest, Jefferson, McKean, Potter, Venango, and Warren Counties in Northwest and North Central Pennsylvania, and links to agencies in Chautauqua and Onondaga Counties in New York.

AreaRE.com provides online listing services for people selling their own properties (For Sale By Owner, or FSBO) as well as for area real estate agencies. Arden Services provides site hosting which includes a multitude of user accessible enhancement tools with a variety of plans from which to choose. Richard A. (Dick) Johnson, a Kane, PA native who owns Arden Services, designs and maintains Web sites along with providing these other services. Johnson says, "I got the idea of providing an online real estate listing service from my ability to host and design Web sites, and because I had been the Executive Officer of the Chautauqua County (NY) Board of Realtors® for five years, where I was in charge of both a print real estate guide, and the computerized multiple listing service."

In November 2003, Arden Services launched Arden's General Store, which sells a myriad of new, like-new, collectible, and antique merchandise to purchasers nationwide. Much of the initial offerings came from Johnson's former store in Kane—The Village Emporium. According to Johnson, "As our initial inventory was used up, we began accepting consignments from selected sources which gives us a wider range of items from which to choose. In order to enhance shopping convenience even more, Arden Services accepts payments online, over the phone, or through the U.S. Postal Service. We recently accepted a consignment of collectible Playboy and other similar magazines in that genre numbering over 2,000, and are in the process of getting them online as quickly as possible."

As an online service located in a remote area in the Allegheny National Forest in NW Pennsylvania, it is essential to be able to serve customers and clients who are not necessarily located in or near Kane. One way is by accepting assignments and orders via email, online upload, mail, phone and fax.
