Arden Services, originator and operator of Area Real Estate for SaleAreaRE.com, the only online property guide specifically serving Northwest and North Central Pennsylvania, relocated its offices to a convenient commercial location. Centrally situated in Kane's main business area, the service is an integral part of The Village Emporium at the corner of Fraley and Field Streets. In addition to providing Internet services, the move has permitted expansion into direct retail sales with the creation of The Village Emporium.
Area Real Estate for Sale at www.AreaRE.com was designed and developed by Richard A. (Dick) Johnson, a Kane native, and has presented over 650 properties in 11 area counties since going online in October 1998. All types of real estate are online, including camps, vacant land, commercial and industrial, as well as residential properties, and the site is updated daily. A partial list of participating agents includes Ken Carlson, Salesperson, Katy Realty, Kane; Chuck Cooper, Broker, Rocking Horse Realty, Smethport; David Kell, Broker, RE/MAX Briar Hill Associates, Warren; and Greg Smathers, Broker, RE/MAX River Country Realty, Clarion and Marienville.
Arden Services has been providing Internet services since 1996. Products and services continue to expand, and include virtual servers, Web-site design services, an online shopping cart, merchant accounts, free Web-site creation program and merchandise sold online through its www.ArdenWebSales.com Web site. Now, instead of being only a "virtual" service, all of these services and products are available on a person-to-person, live basis, too.
The Village Emporium adheres to the definition of an emporium, "a store carrying a diversity of merchandise." This diversity, besides the Internet and real estate services, includes a wide assortment of new and like-new merchandise, such as office and computer supplies, housewares, furniture, knickknacks, collectibles, videos, books and even a small eatery featuring Luigi's Famous Hoagies. Says Johnson, "I'd thought about opening a small variety store for quite a while, but circumstances earlier this year brought the decision to the fore and the store ended up being larger than initially anticipated. Although most of the initial inventory of merchandise is from my own property, I accept consignments from others for sale under terms of a contract. To be acceptable, the merchandise must be either new or nearly so. Shortly, I plan to add photocopiers for sale and offer photocopy services."
